Yoga in Australia has exploded over the last few years with studios, workshops and beachside classes seemingly popping up in every suburb. Not just confined to the larger cities, even small country towns have seen a yoga studio or two appear to share the knowledge.
This growth has seen the ancient practice of Yoga being introduced to thousands of new practitioners every year, and with it a strong desire for many people to understand the techniques, history and stories of Yoga. The Yoga Australia site and Blog is of the highest quality and has a depth of posts and articles hard to be matched . The guest posts are very instructive and overall combine both clear information on techniques and practices as well as personal growth stories. I enjoyed the post on “Why don’t men practice yoga” especially the concept of “Bro-Yoga”. This is a must read blog.
Byron Yoga Centre
The Byron Yoga Center is one of the longest running yoga schools in Australia, mostly teaching Purna Yoga. Their Yogi Wisdom Blog is full of inspirational and informative articles ranging from philosophy through to graduate stories. I particularly enjoyed the post on how to use yoga to prepare for childbirth..inspirational. One of their latest posts also includes an interview with practitioner Toni Childs.
The Yoga Space
The Yoga Space Blog is a rich and deep set of articles which go to the heart of practicing yoga. Beautifully presented the posts cover topics from yoga philosophy through to Kundalini Tantra. This is a must read blog for all practitioners.
Yoga Synergy
Yoga Synergy Blog is a modern site with beautiful clean design and easy to read yet inspirational posts and articles. The Blog posts range from techniques and traditional poses through to articles such as “Traditional Yoga for the Modern Body”. These posts are both informative and practical for day to day benefit.
Mind Body Green
The Mind Body Green Blog has more than one speciality crossing through general fitness, health and of course yoga. The blog does have a number of high quality articles in the yoga section which make it worthy of our selection, especially the post on “How yoga can help deal with Grief ” which many readers will find enlightening.
Power Living
The Power Living Blog is a delight to read, well designed and immediately engaging. Most of the posts are of a semi personal nature by the resident teachers and highlight there own journey and practice. The post ” Why are Yoga Girls Single ” was wonderful.
Barre Body
Barre Body is a Blog that provides informative and topical information for teachers and practitioners alike. The blog focuses on Vinyasa yoga, ballet barre conditioning and Pilates. A recent blog post what is so great about backbends shares the studio’s opinions when it comes to performing backbends in between yoga sessions showing that the pose can help you relax and stay aligned to your practice.
Get There Blog by Fitness First
The Fitness First Blog has a number of interesting posts and articles on yoga which aren’t found anywhere else. I particularly enjoyed the post on “What Hot yoga taught me about life” and how it gave another perspective. This is a blog worth reading.
Jiva Mukti Yoga
The Jivamuktiyoga Blog is another wonderful series of posts which provide a deeper understanding of our practice. Many of the articles are targeted at helping the reader discover their true motivation and nature as in the wonderful “To live on purpose” post. These articles are well worth reading and contemplation.
Yoga 213
The Yoga 213 Blog is a good blend of yoga and health related articles with an emphasis on Total Wellbeing. Many of the articles explore topics such as meditation and practice techniques through to a wonderful post on ” Climbing MT kilimanjaro”.
Yoga Institute
The Yoga Institute Blog reflects their motto of “Ancient Wisdom Modern Living” by providing highly informative articles on subjects such as “The science behind yoga” and Yoga psychology. The posts are well written and well researched.
Australian Yoga Journal
The Australian Yoga Journal is primarily directed towards its excellent magazine format however its website does have a number of great blog posts and articles as well. Here you will find gems such as “Mummy, I’m Superman” and the wisdom of “Soul Asylum”. This is a great resource.
Fire Shaper
The Fire Shaper blog is an incredible resource for information about every facet of yoga imaginable. It is frequently updated with articles that cover everything from the meaning of the word ‘namaste’ and the benefits of hot yoga to the best poses for heart health. Don’t miss this one.
Good Life Health Blog
The Good Life Health site is a new addition to the yoga scene, written by Dr Lillian Nejad their blog has some fantastic articles on the mental health benefits of practicing yoga and how you can incorporate the concepts like mindfulness into your everyday life. We all deserve to be happy healthy yogis and this blog has some brilliant articles to help us all get there.
Lauren Tober
Laurens Blog is one of the more heartfelt and beautiful blogs in the Australian Yoga scene. Her posts are warm and insightful, leaving the reader with a sense of hope and optimisim. I particularly enjoyed her article on ” Yoga and the Highly Sensitive Person” which I’m sure many people could relate to and understand. A happy blog and enjoyable reading.
Patrick and Carling
Ok…So this yoga blog is fairly different from most you will discover. This is the blog of a couple of ridiculously good looking but wonderful people traveling the world practicing yoga, meeting fellow yogi’s and generally having a great time. It’s nice to know that yoga can take you the world over with love and right living. Loved it.
HOM Yoga
Hom Yoga is a beautiful site with a wonderful Blog that covers both traditional techniques through to Beauty tips and general health guidelines. I very much enjoyed the post on “Trusting your Practice” and the rush that comes when you finally nail that difficult pose. A great blog with inspirational posts.
Bikram Australia
Bikram Australia is a Blog which inspires and informs at the same time. The articles are well written and carry a warm and welcoming tone which is great to read. The articles are diverse from recipes through to technical poses and everything in between. The latest blog post is the story of a 53-year-old woman who has had numerous challenges in life but finds a way forward through her practice.
Adore Yoga
Adore Yoga is a Blog that encourages those individuals that think they are either too inflexible or unable to do yoga that in fact they can…with wonderful results. The latest blog post Yoga and meditation for cancer survivor talks about how one can improve his or her general well-being by performing various yoga practices. The blog further goes on to share how yoga shapes and affects every body part and organ towards the improvement of that persons general health.

Stretch Yoga Blog is a hidden gem. There are a considerable number of articles and posts in the archives which speak to subjects such as “Yoga for kids” and “How to eat like a Yogi” which were very insightful and informative. A great resource blog.
Inna Bliss Yoga
Innablissyoga is another great Blog with beautifully written posts of a personal style. These types of articles are easier to read and connect us with the daily realities of our lives and practice. The post on “Time Passages” would be a joy to read for any recent traveller. I hope they keep on posting more regularly.
Kula Yoga
Kula Yoga has a very informative and well written blog. All the articles are very well written and helpful, I especially enjoyed the article on the “5 Truths About Meditation” which pushes aside the fluff to explain the things really matter when you meditate. Very helpful information and a fantastic read.
Dancing Warrior Yoga
The Dancing Warrior Yoga blog has some very enlightening articles, especially for yoga practitioners. Their series featuring many different yoga teachers is a fantastic resource for those thinking about entering the industry or just if you would like some more insight on the inspirational people that have made yoga their life!

Yoga Alchemy has a very interesting and quite personal blog that is an absolute joy to read. There are some fantastic stories on the blog that all have their little lesson to teach. One great article that stood out was about “Ladies and the lunar cycles” which delved into the history and relationships that women have the moon the rhythms of the earth. Awesome read.

The Satya Live Yoga site is a delight to visit and the Blog has a number of good articles on a wide range of subjects. I particularly enjoyed the “Yoga’s Ten Commandments for Happiness” post as well as “Embracing Change”. This is a well researched and informative blog.

Here With Sarah is a warm and gentle blog with posts and articles mostly written by Sarah herself. Her insight and dedication to passing on her knowledge is evident in posts like “On Ironing, Sustainability, Indian Silk and the Airplane” which many people will enjoy. Worth spending some time getting to know Sarah.
Joy Mamma
The Joy mamma Blog is exactly as it sounds, focused on the joys and tribulations of new birth. Carrie has a number of wonderful posts on her blog many connecting the joy of motherhood to her yoga practice. This is a great resource for yoga practitioners who are new mothers or soon to be mums.
Casa De Karma
The Casa De Karma blog is a wonderful example of people coming together to share their knowledge and joy. The five minute interview series (many of them yoga related) is insightful and very relevant to many people. The interview with Claire Nettley was particularly enjoyable.
Sea Yoga
The Sea Yoga blog is a beautiful site with a very personal perspective on life and yoga by the author. These blogs are wonderful because they provide a warm and insightful look into a yoga practice within a normal life. The post ” Be More. Do Less” was a good read.
