Finding Your Harmony with Adele McConnell

Recently we decided that we needed to hear more from those inspiring women that live harmonious lives every single day.

People who inspire us and motivate us to find happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

We want to know how they do it and what advice they can offer us.

We had a chat with Adele McConnell from Vegie Head!

Adele is the inspiring founder of Vegie Head and her own cosmetics/skincare line Dusk by Adele, an author, teacher and all round awesome lady. For those of use that wish to include more healthy plant based food in our day-to-day lives, she is most definitely, the person to listen to.

What are some of the ways you make your day-to-day life more harmonious?

I think it’s really important to listen to what my body is telling me each day. Sometimes I’m full of beans and spring out of bed at 5am…other days I need more of a sleep-in, and I allow it! I don’t beat myself up if I don’t do something either, the stress and pressure do not create harmony.

I find that having lists of to-do’s helps, as well as shutting down social media while I’m working. I like to focus on one thing at a time.

I have a bath every night, with loads of salts and magnesium flakes, crystals and candles, music and aromatherapy oils. This is my ultimate bedtime wind down.

I also meditate for at least 30 minutes each day, and this helps clear my head.

How do you stay creative and inspired about the things you do every day?

Great question! For me, it’s definitely coming from a place of service- so how do I intend to serve the World today?- and that’s the question I come back to again and again.   I listen to music, write, walk, exercise and shop for organics each day- these all get me excited and inspired. I love painting, so do that as a hobby, and I also steer clear of watching what everyone else is doing. I don’t compare nor judge.

What was your biggest learning/growth experience in the past year?

That it’s ok to say no! As hard as it still is, I’m getting better at it 😀

What would be your advice to people who struggle with making healthy and whole food a staple in their life?

Make small changes where you can. Swap a junk food item for a good, fresh, wholefood item. Planning ahead is also a great tool as well- so you don’t go running for pre-packaged foods when you’re hungry!

What’s the easiest thing that people can do right now to improve their cooking and eating habits?

Buy organic produce where possible. It’s amazing the difference it makes- and the taste is infinitely better! Check out your local farmers markets and health food stores, and get to know their delivery days and cycles. You can often pick up some great bargains as well if they have produce that isn’t ‘pretty’ or is about to turn.

What are your goals for the future? What have you got planned for this year?

Ohhhh so many, where do I start?! I’ve got a few surprises up my sleeve, but for now I’m focussing on Vegie Head Workshops and eBooks, and my Dusk by Adele Cosmetics and Skincare.
